Introducing Trust Issues, WebPurify’s new podcast on the future of online safety
October 14, 2025 | By Jeff Meyer | AnnouncementsWhat happens when you sit down with the people working behind the scenes to keep the internet safe? You get honest, thought-provoking conversations about scams, misinformation, content moderation, and the myriad pressures facing platforms today.
That’s the idea behind Trust Issues: Insights from the People Who Keep the Internet Safe, a new podcast from WebPurify, an IntouchCX company. Hosted by Ailís Daly, WebPurify’s Head of Trust & Safety for EMEA, the series brings listeners candid discussions with global leaders on the frontlines of online safety.
Who you’ll hear from
Kicking off the series are two guests with powerful and very powerful perspectives and experiences of online safety:
- Cecilie Fjellhøy – fraud survivor of Netflix’s The Tinder Swindler. Cecilie reveals what living through one of the most notorious online scams taught her about fraud prevention, and why empathy must be built into platform design. As she explains in the episode: “That is what I was so set aback with – that people only cared about the money … That was the first thing they asked, and not how I was.”
- Dr Jessica Piotrowski – media psychologist, Google adviser, and Professor at the University of Amsterdam. Dr. Piotrowski explains how algorithmic repetition shapes social media and shows why feeds that never vary can be more harmful than we realize. “Algorithms make assumptions,” she tells us. “Just because you watched a video about dieting doesn’t mean you’re endorsing it. You might be researching critically. Yet the algorithm interprets engagement as interest and amplifies similar content, potentially pushing harmful ideas unintentionally.”
And that’s just the start. Future episodes will feature leaders from Google, Roblox, and other organizations tackling the biggest trust and safety challenges facing platforms today.
Why this matters
“There’s so much happening behind the scenes in Trust & Safety that the public rarely hears about,” Ailís says. “Trust Issues is a chance to bring those stories forward and explain the challenges, the innovations, and the lessons that can help restore faith in platforms’ efforts to keep their users safe and build more resilient communities.”
